Pune/ Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is now in the process of finalising the list of new entrants in his Cabinet. Sources told Sakal Times that former Congressman Narayan Rane, who floated his own political outfit a few days ago, is likely to be included in the Fadnavis Cabinet. The Shiv Sena has already expressed displeasure over Rane’s entry into the government but Fadnavis has decided to go ahead with Rane’s inclusion, according to sources.
The Sena has been raising a voice of discontent for a long time now against the BJP in Maharashtra. Ever since the Sena became part of the government in December 2014 they have got a feeling that the BJP has sidelined them by not giving them any of the important portfolios. Now, the prospect of Rane’s inclusion in the Cabinet and the possibility that Rane may be given some heavyweight portfolio has further angered the Sena leadership.
“We are going for a Cabinet expansion soon. The list is being finalised and there will be a regional balance as well as balance to accommodate all members of the NDA alliance,” Fadnavis told reporters on Wednesday.
“The Sena should not be complaining about any of the entrants because we are going to take any new faces without affecting their quota in the Cabinet. Sena can have the same number of berths in the Cabinet and they can send me the list of who they want as ministers. We will fill the other berths with other NDA alliance partners. Narayan Rane has now joined the NDA. So the decision about his inclusion is being seriously considered,” Fadnavis added.
The Sena has refused to comment on record or give any reaction to Fadnavis’ comments about Rane, but it is understood that the party will hold a series of meetings with its leaders to decide the future course of action.
