Rain with thundershowers likely on April 16, 17: IMD

Pune: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that people might get some respite from soaring heat in many cities in the State. According to IMD, rain along with thundershowers are likely at isolated places over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada on April 16 and April 17.

Nagpur recorded rainfall along with hailstorms on Sunday. The maximum temperature recorded across the State was in Malegaon at 42 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was reported in Osmanabad at 16.6 degrees Celsius. 

On Sunday, Pune witnessed cloudy skies in the evening. The highest day temperature recorded was 38.6 degrees Celsius and lowest night temperature recorded was 20.2 degrees Celsius.

IMD noted that the sky may remain cloudy on April 16 with rain accompanied with thunderstorm likely. However, from April 17 to 21, the sky will remain clear with mercury touching 38 degrees Celsius during the day and 17 degrees Celsius during the night. 
For the State, IMD predicted that from April 18, rain along with thundershowers is likely at isolated places over Konkan and Goa and dry weather is likely over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada and Vidarbha. From April 19, dry weather over Maharashtra and Goa has been predicted by IMD.

Across the country, the highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 42.8 degrees Celsius in Hoshangabad in west Madhya Pradesh. Also, hailstorms were reported on Sunday in Mana village in Chhattisgarh.

IMD has predicted that thunderstorm accompanied by squall is likely at places over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till April 18.
