Pune MLA alleges Lavasa construction work is damaging environment

Mumbai: Environment minister Ramdas Kadam assured in the legislative assembly that the complaint against Lavasa city regarding the illegal construction and related to environment will be probed and in the next three months the report will be submitted to the legislative assembly, 
MLA from Pune, Bhimrao Tapkir raised the issue in the assembly during the question hour. he said that there is proper drainage system in Lavasa city.

There is no waste management and the drain water is polluting the water in Khadkwasla dam, the water is reserved for drinking. 

Mumbai: Environment minister Ramdas Kadam assured in the legislative assembly that the complaint against Lavasa city regarding the illegal construction and related to environment will be probed and in the next three months the report will be submitted to the legislative assembly, 
MLA from Pune, Bhimrao Tapkir raised the issue in the assembly during the question hour. he said that there is proper drainage system in Lavasa city.

There is no waste management and the drain water is polluting the water in Khadkwasla dam, the water is reserved for drinking. 

"The Lavasa has constructed many structures illegally in the city. While constructing the structures the city planing authority has violated many environmental norms. The city has discharged their drain water in the Varsgaon Dam and it is going to the Khadkwasla lake. That is harmful to the citizens of the Mumbai," Tapkir said. 

"There are other issues related to the environment as they axed many trees and demolished the hills in the areas," Tapkir further informed. 

While replying to the question Kadam said that the government will initiate an enquiry against all the illegal activities regarding Lavasa City. "Now the status of special planning authority of the Lavasa has been withdrawn by the government and the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Corporation (PMRDA) is the planning authority for the project," he said.
