After getting complaints against Shinde from BJP workers, Ahmednagar SP Ranjan Kumar Sharma suspended him on Saturday.

Pune: A police constable of Ahmednagar district police has been suspended for allegedly writing against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in WhatsApp groups.

Police constable Ramesh Shinde had been posted as the bodyguard of Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat in Sangamner for several years.

After getting complaints against Shinde from BJP workers, Ahmednagar SP Ranjan Kumar Sharma suspended him on Saturday.

According to police officials, earlier, Shinde had written against Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. A warning was issued to him earlier but he again started circulating posts against Modi on WhatsApp. After BJP workers lodged a complaint with the cyber cell, it was found that Shinde had used his phone to circulate the messages.

“Shinde has been suspended for violating disciplinary matters. He was not only sending objectionable posts but also showing interests towards a particular political party,” the district police chief said.
