Mumbai: The Union government is in the process of bringing petrol under GST, that will control the rising prices of petrol, said BJP President Amit Shah.

After the rally at Bandra Kurla Complex, Shah was talking to reporters.

When asked about the rising petrol and diesel prices, Shah said that the rates of petrol are still less than the rates during the UPA government.

“We are doing all that is possible for the government to control the prices of petrol and diesel. Efforts are currently underway to bring it under GST and deliberations will be held within GST Council,” he said.

Refuting the claims that allies are deserting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Shah said there is no possibility that the alliance partners will go out of the NDA. When asked about how every alternate day Shiv Sena hitting the BJP left and right, he said the Shiv Sena is still with the BJP. He claimed there is no possibility of general and assembly polls being held together.
Replying to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s comments about Shah being a Jain, the BJP chief said that he is a Hindu-Vaishnav and any person can raise the issue of using religion to divide people.

He called the Karnataka government’s move to extend separate religion status to Lingayats as the one for the sake of elections.
While clarifying the statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Congress-Mukta Bharat, Shah said the slogan aimed at Congress culture must leave Bharat and did not talk about a political party.
