Online dating a hit near Symbiosis, YMCA & Deccan Gymkhana

Pune: In an interesting revelation, in the areas around Symbiosis University, Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) and Deccan Gymkhana, users have shown a high number of matches in terms of meeting new people online or romantic encounters. This was found in a study conducted by the French meet-up app, Happn, in the city recently. 

The study states, “The number of users are concentrated in specific areas of Pune. Pune users have shown a high number of matches near Symbioses University on SB Road and Viman Nagar. YMCA in Quarter Gate and Deccan Gymkhana near Ferguson College Road have also shown a considerable number of users getting their matches there.”

Happn is the first mobile dating app to use real-time geo-location to help you discover people you’ve crossed paths with in real life. Every time you cross paths with another Happn user, his or her profile appears on your app. 

Indian trends
In another nation-wide survey conducted by the YouGov on behalf of Happn to study how the social habits of Indians have changed with the digital era, it was found that over 54 per cent Indians meet new people online. 

“The survey highlights that Indians are growing more and more digital when it comes to their social life. Today, the internet is a space for new social connection that most Indians have already adopted as over half of Indians say they meet new people online (54 per cent), a proportion that’s even higher amongst people between 30 years to 39 years. Social media, apps, etc, are the fourth most common way of meeting new people, after friends, work and family in order of importance,” officials stated.

The nationwide survey was conducted online in May 2017 and a sample of 1,000 adults aged 18 and above and representative of Indian society were surveyed.
