More rain likely in Maharashtra in coming week

Pune: The State saw rain and thundershowers over Konkan, Goa and Vidarbha, at many places over Madhya Maharashtra and at a few places over Marathwada on Sunday.

In the coming week, between July 17 and July 20, rain and thundershowers are likely at most places over Konkan and Goa, at many places over Madhya Maharashtra and Vidarbha and at a few places over Marathwada.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the southwest monsoon has been vigorous over Saurashtra and Kutch and active over Uttarakhand, Gujarat region and Madhya Maharashtra. However, it has been subdued over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) continues to pass through Jaisalmer, Phalodi, Nagaur, Sikar, Hissar, Patiala and Kapurthala. In the regions where the southwest monsoon was yet to set in, day temperatures were above normal in some parts of west Rajasthan.

Total rainfall during the past 24 hours, reported by 348 stations in the plains, is 326.5 cm. Normal rainfall for these 348 stations is 442.6 cm.

The temperature was normal over the rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 40.6 degree Celsius in Bikaner, in Rajasthan on Sunday.
