Pune: The much-awaited notification on the plastic ban has been issued by the State on Saturday. The empowered committee had a meeting on Saturday at 11 am where Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam, Industries Minister Subhash Desai; Praveen Pardesi, IAS; P Anarbaglan, Chief Secretary of MPCB, along with member of environment NN Gurav attended. Varun Sanghavi, chief coordinator of the plastic task force was also present.
The notification has given further exemptions including minimum weight of retail bag should be 2 gm for packaging bag.
It should be 5 inch by 6 inch in size, garment to be removed from original packing before sale to a customer, shrink film, stretch film and cling film are out due to medical application and industrial packaging, multilayer with three-month EPR condition, more than 200 ml for PET bottles will be allowed. There is no change made from the ban in the thermoformed container etc.”
Sameer Joshi, member of the plastic task force, said, “As per verbal discussion with the Environment Minister, it is compulsory to obtain MPCB consent for packaging producers situated outside the State.”
