Pune: Cold wave conditions prevailed at a few places over Vidarbha on Saturday and many cities in the State experienced a dip in night temperatures. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded the minimum temperature on Saturday in Pune city at 10.3 degrees Celsius.
Also, Brahmapuri, Nagpur, Jalgaon and Gondia recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the State at 8 degree Celsius on Saturday.
In the coming week, isolated places over Vidarbha are expected to experience cold conditions from January 28 to 29. Mainly dry weather is likely over the rest of Maharashtra and Goa till January 31.
In Pune city, IMD has forecast that the sky will remain clear. The maximum temperature may touch 32 degrees whereas the minimum temperature will increase to 13 degrees Celsius.
Cold wave conditions also prevailed at a few places over east and west Madhya Pradesh. Cold day conditions prevailed at a few places over north Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places over Haryana and Punjab.
The lowest minimum temperature recorded on Saturday was 3.2 degrees Celsius at Alwar in east Rajasthan. Dense to very dense fog was observed in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Dense fog was also observed at Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and Punjab. Shallow to moderate fog was observed in other parts of north and east India in the morning hours on Saturday.
IMD predicted that till January 31, cold day conditions are likely at isolated places over Bihar and east Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog is likely at isolated places over Bihar and northeast Uttar Pradesh. Ground frost conditions are very likely at a few places over lower reaches of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir till January 31.
