LokSabha 2019: Voters of Baramati constituency want devp
Avantika Brahme told Sakal Times, “I had voted this time for development and national integrity. We want our family to be secure.”
PUNE: The other constituency in Pune district, Baramati, also went to polls with an overwhelming response on Tuesday. Initially, voting in Shivane, Uttam Nagar, Warje, Bavdhan and Sinhagad Road started on a slow note, but by afternoon, the voting gained momentum.
A few voters reached before 7 am when the voting began, mostly those who come out for a morning walk. According to witnesses, till 9.30 am, mostly men voted.
Vaishali Ubale (32), a homemaker residing in Shivane said, “There is less rush early in the morning. We can easily vote without waiting. This time my vote is for development. The road is yet to develop but we need more facilities.”
In Shivane and Uttam Nagar, many voters were not aware of the rule that mobiles are not allowed inside the booth. Heated discussions with the police followed but when made aware of the rule, the voters kept their phones with the police constables.
The arrangements like drinking water, a place to sit and sheds were also there.
A large number of women turned out in Warje. Avantika Brahme told Sakal Times, “I had voted this time for development and national integrity. We want our family to be secure.”
However, the scene at Bavdhan and Sinhagad Road was totally different from Warje, Shivane and Uttam Nagar.
A large number of young voters had cast their votes. The voters at Sinhagad Road and Bavdhan said that they voted for the nation and development and not for any individual.
