‘Rangeela’ girl may be the probable candidate of Congress from North Mumbai

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Urmila Matondkar joined the Congress on Wednesday in the presence of Party President Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi. This ‘Rangeela’ girl may be the probable candidate of the Congress from North Mumbai for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Matondkar met Rahul Gandhi with Mumbai Congress Chief Milind Deora and senior Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam. After the meeting, it was officially announced that Matondkar had joined the Congress.

“I believe in the Congress and its leadership. The leadership also believes in equality and not asking others to prove patriotism,” said Matondkar.

BJP’s Gopal Shetty won the Lok Sabha seat in 2014. North Mumbai is BJP’s bastion for last some years. UP Governor Ram Naik won the seat for decades. After Naik, Gopal Shetty won the seat. Now the Congress may try to convert celebrities’ popularity into votes and may field Matondkar from the constituency.

Shetty is a strong candidate of the BJP and Congress and was looking for a candidate who can challenge Shetty. Earlier, the Congress was thinking of actors Asawari Joshi and Shilpa Shinde for the constituency.
