PUNE: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rain is likely to occur in Maharashtra till July 16.
The southwest monsoon has been active over east Uttar Pradesh, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, Konkan and Goa, madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Kerala. It has been subdued over Bihar.
On Thursday, parts of the State experienced fairly good rainfall. Pune in central Maharashtra reported 1 mm rainfall whereas Mahabaleshwar reported 85 mm rainfall. Kolhapur reported 35 mm and Satara 18 mm rainfall while Solapur received 9 mm rainfall.IMD has noted that parts of central Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Konkan and Goa will witness heavy rain till July 16. According to IMD, Pune city will experience a few spells every day till July 16.
RAINS IN OTHER PARTS OF COUNTRY
On Thursday, total rainfall reported by 356 stations from Wednesday evening to Thursday evening in the plains is 498.9 centimetres. Normal rainfall for these stations is 457.4 centimetres.
IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rain at a few places with extremely heavy rain at isolated places likely over coastal Karnataka and Kerala till July 16. Heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places likely over Uttarakhand, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region and south interior Karnataka.
DOWNPOUR IN STATE
- Osmanabad in Marathwada reported 4 mm rainfall whereas Parbhani and Aurangabad also experienced rainfall
- In Vidarbha, Akola received 42 mm rainfall and Gondia and Yavatmal reported 15 mm and 14 mm rainfall, respectively. Amravati, as well as Buldhana, also received rainfall.
- Parts of Konkan and Goa also reported heavy rainfall with Ratnagiri recording 42 mm rainfall on Thursday.
