FCFS round of FYJC admissions underway

PUNE: The Directorate of Education has opened a special round for students under ‘First Come First Serve’ (FCFS) basis for First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions. This has been introduced for the first time in order to place 1,509 students in FYJC.

FCFS has been bifurcated in three categories - first category panel was for students who scored between 80 to 100 per cent, which was conducted on Monday. These students can physically visit the college to secure admission till Tuesday.

In FCFS procedure, a student can choose a seat with one click on the college website, which will display number of seats vacant in respective streams. By clicking on the seat, the aspirant can immediately book the seat under his name and take admission the next day.

“Unless the student receives a computer generated receipt from the college, his/her seat will not be sealed. The colleges will then release the number of seats vacant,” said Meenakshi Raut, Assistant Director of Education, Pune region.

“The online portal to click on colleges will be open. These rounds don’t include students of ATKT,” said Raut. “However, students who miss the chance in first attempt can apply again in other category but chances of getting admission in desired college is slim, as it will depend on seats vacant,” added Raut.

Worried students visited the Deputy  Director of Education office on Monday. “I am a nervous as I have not got admission in any college. This will be the last chance and I fall under the third category. I want a seat in Commerce section in Poona College. They informed me that so far there are 57 vacant seats. I am hopeful to get a chance by the time I get my turn to take admission,” said a student on condition of anonymity.

Another student who had secured 60 per cent in his Std X exam waited eagerly outside the DYDE office. He said, “I have got SV Union College but I want to take admission in SP College in Science branch. I opted for the college thrice but didn’t get it.”

IMPORTANT DATES
- 1st Panel for above 80 per cent category: August 21
- 2nd Panel for above 60 per cent category: August 23
- 3rd Panel for above 35 per cent category: August 25-27

After each panel, number of seats available will be displayed on the pune.11th admission.net website. Overall vacancy list will be published on August 30 which will be open for repeaters as well.
