BJP may go solo in Maharashtra

Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah gave a clear indication in Mumbai on Saturday that the party is now in the mood to extend its reach to the entire State and may be preparing to fight in all constituencies of the State alone without getting into any alliance with any partner in 2019.

Shah clearly said at a press conference in Mumbai that the BJP has decided to extend itself to all constituencies in Maharashtra.

Shah is currently on national tour and is spending three days in Mumbai. During his three-day visit, he will interact with his party cadre. Shah defended CM Devendra Fadnavis and made it clear that the BJP led government in Maharashtra will complete its full term of five years. But he also said that the party is prepared to face mid-term polls if needed.

Asked about the presidential poll, Shah said the BJP is discussing various options with all parties to finalise the name.

Against the backdrop of the Mumbai blast judgment, when asked about gangster and mastermind of the blast Dawood Ibrahim, Shah said, “We are in process to bring back Dawood to India.”

In his statement, he listed his party’s achievements and government’s achievements in last three years.

He said that the Congress government could not solve many problems in last 60 years while the BJP government solved many of them in last three years. “Up to 2022, the country will be at another level,” he said.
When asked about the farmers’ agitation, he said that the State government handled the issue very well. “During any disaster, the government has to protect the farmers and the BJP is doing it,” he said.

While talking about the Kashmir issue, he said that the issue is not recent and blamed the Congress for creating problems in Kashmir.

“The government is working on the economic reforms and has made India the fastest growing economy. During this government’s tenure, the share market touched its highest level. The agricultural growth rate has increased up to 20 per cent from negative 8 per cent,” Shah said. “My tour is to make the party more powerful, increase its strength and set a new goal for the forthcoming election,” he added.
