It is considered to be an important document as it guarantees 7.5 per cent reservation while applying under the Scheduled Tribe category for jobs, admissions in educational institutes and applying for candidature under the Scheduled Tribe category.
The online facility is considered to be a boon by the tribal population as they do not have to run to the Tehsildar's office to obtain the Tribe Certificate, said Narendra Poyam, Commissioner,the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI).
The State government has appointed eight Scheduled Tribe Certificate Verification committees to scrutinise applications demanding issuance of e-Tribe Certificate.
The e-Tribe Validity Certificate can be obtained in eight working days, if the applicant submits necessary documents and makes appearance before the scrutiny committee.
The State has 1.05 crore tribal population, which includes 45 tribes including Bhilla, Gaund, Rajgaund, Koli Mahadeo, Warli, Kokna, Korku and Kola.
The officials from the TRTI said with the facility, there is a considerate drop in number of establishments writing letters to the department to check the validity of a Tribe Certificate issued to the candidate concerned.
The TRTI officer told Sakal Times that each e-Tribe Certificate is identified with a barcode and the employers or educational institutes can verify whether the certificate is valid or not using this barcode. The Tribal Development Department gets 3,000 applications for Tribe Validity.
The number goes up during the admission season, during June and July. In these two months, the department gets around 4,500 applications per month.
