15 farmers threaten to commit mass suicide

PARBHANI: At least 15 farmers on Thursday threatened to commit mass suicide over 'failure' of administration to complete developmental works including water supply at Manoli village in the district.

According to sources, farmers threatened to commit mass suicide on April 19, on arrival of the Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis in the district.

A joint memorandum marked to CM signed by all the farmers hailing from Manoli village have submitted to the Manvat Tehsildar on Wednsday, they said.

In the memorandum, farmers alleged that developmental schemes including drinking water are only on papers and not completed so far. They further alleged that the Village Gram Panchayat also failed to complete any kind of developmental works since 2012.

If KT (Kolhapur-Type) weir Water technology was completed in the area, situation would have been different, and farmers who committed suicide could have saved their lives, they said.

As many as eight farmers made suicide attempt, in which four were died in the past one month.
