Pune/Kolhapur: Thirteen girl cadets of the National Cadet Core (NCC) from Pune were selected as part of the NCC Maharashtra Directorate team for the All India Thal Sainik Camp (AITSC).
The AITSC is one of the most prestigious all-India NCC camps, held in New Delhi. The Maharashtra Directorate girls team, comprising 40 cadets, departed for New Delhi from NCC Group Headquarters, Kolhapur, on Saturday.
Girls’ teams from all 17 NCC directorates in the country participated in this camp. The AITSC is a professional competition, which is spread over 10 days. Various competitions are conducted during the camp, like map reading, obstacle course, judging distance, tent pitching, field signals, health and hygiene, and firing. During the camp, practical, theory and viva tests are also conducted for each cadet.
The Maharashtra directorate team was selected out of seven NCC groups in the State, comprising Amravati, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Pune, Mumbai ‘A’, Mumbai ‘B’ and Kolhapur, after a stringent selection process. The team had been training in Kolhapur since August this year.
