‘People are unhappy with Devendra Fadnavis govt’

PUNE: While talking to media persons here on Sunday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) State President Jayant Patil heavily criticised the Shiv Sena and said it is projecting Aditya Thackeray as the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections on the advice of its political advisor Prashant Kishore.

Patil said, “It is surprising that Shiv Sena works with such advisors.” He also ridiculed the protest by Shiv Sena on Crop Insurance Scheme and said that the Uddhav Thackeray-led party hardly understands agrarian distress making their protest useless.

NCP City President Chetan Tupe was also present during the conference.

Patil said, “Despite various scams and misappropriation of funds done by the BJP ministers, the party created a farce by conducting an inquiry into the misconduct of ministers but never submitted any report. Likewise, under the guise of providing jobs to the youths, the PM and CM have deceived them. All the schemes of this government are fraudulent. Regardless of the people, the government only cares and pushes their agenda. People have voted for PM Modi but it will not happen during the Assembly elections as people are unhappy with the Devendra Fadnavis government.”

Patil said Tupe has not asked for any candidature in upcoming Assembly polls but will be fielded as per the party need.

Rubbishing the allegations levied by State BJP President Chandrakant Patil regarding Parth Pawar’s candidacy, he said, “Party workers were insistent on Parth’s candidacy from Maval and therefore he was fielded from there.” Patil rubbished the allegations that if Parth had not been fielded, Ajit Pawar would have dismantled the party.

ASSEMBLY ELECTION PREPARATION
Jayant Patil said a meeting was conducted in the presence of NCP Chief Sharad Pawar for the upcoming Assembly elections which was attended by Ajit Pawar, Dhananjay Munde and Chhagan Bhujbal. He said the allocation of seats between the alliance partners will be decided in August. Although there have been positive signals of alliance with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, the final decision is yet to be taken.

The NCP has invited applications for all 288 seats. There are 875 applications for this and there will be interviews of aspirants in each district from July 23-25. Patil said he will be conducting interviews of the aspirants in Pune and Thane districts.
