Pune: Tata Motors has unleashed a massive push in the Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicles segment with a launch of 14 Light Commercial Vehicless offering 50 applications as the trucking major aimed at increasing its domination in the segment, which so far was not a focus area.

"At Tata Motors we realised that in the Intermediate and Light Commercial Vehicle segment we needed to offer something more to the customers and so the idea of the 14 products with 50 applications was conceptualised," said Girish Wagh, President, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, at the launch on Wednesday.

With this launch, Tata Motors aims to strengthen its leadership position in the (ILCV) segment under the Ultra brand ranging from 7 ton to 16 ton with the flexibility to cater to various fully build applications.

"Powered by futuristic and indigenous 3L and 5L Turbotronn series engines, this new range of trucks promises to deliver superior performance, increased payload capacity, industry best mileage, all leading to significant increase in revenues and lowest cost of operation," said Wagh.

The Ultra range is capable of meeting the Global Trucking Standards of emission, safety and features and has been tested and homologated into various geographies outside India such as South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia and many other markets.

“The nationwide launch of new generation Ultra range of trucks is an important milestone in our journey for the ILCV segment in India. With the evolution of hub and spoke model, a boom in e-commerce business and restrictions on over-loading, the ILCV segment continues to grow. The comprehensive ULTRA range showcased today is a result of an extensive feedback received from our fleet owners, end consumers and drivers leading to a unique design language, based on comfort, convenience, and superior performance," Wagh explained.
