PVR Ltd launches two new multiplexes in Pune city

Pune: Further strengthening their number one position in the city, PVR Ltd launched two new properties in Pune on Friday, including one of their premium brands PVR Icon. The opulent six-screen PVR Icon was inaugurated at The Pavillion Mall on SB Road by actor Sidharth Malhotra while the four-screen PVR at Kumar Pacific Mall on Shankarsheth Road was launched by actor Arjun Rampal.

Joint Managing Director, PVR Ltd, Sanjeev Bijli and CEO Gautam Dutta were present at the inaugurations.  Speaking at the event, Bijli said, “In terms of our market share in Pune vis-a-vis our competitors, we stand at the number one position. We cater to a footfall of four million in the city. Despite entering the Pune market later than our competitors or being a challenger brand, we have shaken the market.”

He said the brand is continuously endeavouring to bring new and unique formats to the city. “This is the third big Icon launched after Mumbai and Delhi with 1,366 seats. We also recently launched the 4DX for enhanced sensory experience at our property in Phoenix Marketcity,” he said.

Speaking about the PVR Icon, he said the property boasts of six opulent screens equipped with the latest technologies, including a 4k projection system, next-generation 3D-enabled screens with Ultra HD picture quality and Dolby ATMOS surround sound systems. “It also delivers a rich cinema experience through its signature ambience, including large lobby spaces, chandeliers, classic wall art, new leather recliners and extra leg room,” he said.

Speaking about the Kumar Pacific Mall property, he said that the theatre has four screens with a total seating capacity of 941 seats. “Both properties have a wide variety of gourmet indulgences and Quick Tix, PVR’s digital ticketing solution to promote cashless transactions and reduce ticket wait times,” he said.

He said there are no immediate plans for any new launches in Pune, which account for 12 to 13 per cent of western region revenues for the company and five per cent of national revenue.
