Pune is third largest Sandwich ordering city in India

PUNE: In an interesting revelation, it has been found that Punekars love a sandwich at snack time as compared to other snacks. Pune has ranked third in the country in terms of cities that order most sandwiches online.

This was revealed in an order analysis conducted by popular food delivery application, Swiggy, in celebration of World Sandwich Day on November 3. Mumbai has topped the list of cities which order most sandwiches online, followed by Chennai in the second place.

The survey also revealed that not only Pune, but India loves sandwiches for snack time as most orders for sandwiches across the country are received around the high-tea time. “A fun fact revealed during the order analysis was that sandwiches are most ordered during snacks time. Interestingly the exact time when most sandwiches are ordered across the country is 5.08 PM,” said a spokesperson from Swiggy.

The survey stated, “Top five sandwiches that India loves to order most online on our platform are Veg Grilled Sandwich, Veg Cheese Grilled Sandwich, Chicken Sandwich, Paneer Tikka Sandwich and Bombay Masala Sandwich. The most interesting sandwiches ordered include Bombay Masala Sandwich, Chocolate Sandwich, Schezwan Mushroom Sandwich and Samosa Sandwich.”

The survey also found that as opposed to general perception, people order more vegetarian sandwiches as compared to non-vegetarian. “68 per cent of the sandwiches orders we receive are vegetarian while only 32 per cent of sandwiches ordered are non-vegetarian,” the spokesperson added.

The spokesperson stated that many persons in Pune, as well as rest of the country, are even opting for healthy sandwiches and that the top healthy sandwiches include Tandoori Chicken Sandwich on Multigrain Bread, Tandoori Paneer Sandwich on Multigrain Bread and Garden Fresh Sandwich.
