OnePlus 6T McLaren edition launched in India

Mumbai: To mark the fifth anniversary of the company, OnePlus, on Wednesday, launched a limited edition version of their latest flagship 6T, barely 50 days after unveiling OnePlus 6T.

For the latest smartphone, the company has joined hands with iconic name from Motorsports fraternity – McLaren.

Coming with the tagline ‘Salute to Speed,’ the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition phone is indeed an impressive device and comes with specifications previously unheard of in mobile phone technology.

It boasts of 10 GB RAM coupled with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chip and 256 GB storage ‘under the hood’ while the phone makers have gone one step ahead in terms of phone charging technology. The new WARP charge top-ups the 50 per cent charge in just 20 minutes, while 70 per cent phone would be charged in half hour.

Apart from new features, the dual-SIM (Nano) OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition runs OxygenOS on top of Android 9.0 Pie, and sports a 6.41-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) AMOLED panel with an 19.5:9 aspect ratio and sRGB support.

Externally, a band of Papaya Orange – iconic colour of McLaren – runs along the bottom edge of the phone. The backside of the phone, carbon fibre inspired, boasts the logo of Formula One giant. Meanwhile, on the software front, McLaren edition phone comes with exclusive Live Wallpapers, Boot Up animation and Screen Unlock animations.

“We don’t think about it as a next product or we’re starting a new line, for us it’s a nice touch to celebrate our fifth anniversary. We want to give our most avid users something to celebrate about. We are introducing some pioneer technology with it, just like a showcase of what is possible,” said Szymon Kopec, Product manager, OnePlus.

To mark the landmark year for the company and the latest partnership, it is not just the device that the company has made special, but ‘In Box’ things too hold few surprises for the user, as primary colour scheme remains Papaya Orange. ‘Salute to Speed’ book, the McLaren logo handcrafted in carbon fibre are also included in the box.

Priced at Rs 50,999, the phone will go on sale starting December 15 (Saturday) on the company’s website and its online partners.
