Pune: Mobility of talent and also addressing the roadblocks related to visas, labour mobility, funding and market accessibility will help start-ups from both India and European Union (EU).
This was opined by various panellists at the deliberations centred around start-ups on the concluding day of India-EU Seminar on ‘Talent Mobility’.
The one-and-a-half day seminar at Hotel Conrad in the city was organised jointly by the International Labour Organisation (ILO), in partnership with India Centre for Migration (ICM), a think tank functioning under the aegis of Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India (GOI).
The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce and Industries and NASSCOM were the eco-system partners for the event. The event was organised as part of a technical project supported by the EU with ILO and ICMPD as implementing partners and GOI with ICM as the implementing partner.
The first day focussed on the mobility of skilled individuals in the automotive and information technology sectors, while the second day focussed on start-ups.
Several young entrepreneurs, along with representatives of various platforms, engaged in a meaningful discussion to find a way forward to address key mobility challenges faced by Indian and EU entrepreneurs.
They were of the view that there should be a bigger focus on individuals along with the start-up ecosystem because they are the ones generating an enabling entrepreneurial spirit.
Experts opined that EU companies, especially the SMEs, should be made aware of the opportunities in India.
Benoit Sauveroche First Counsellor EU Delegation to India said, “While working on migration, we need to put all the concerns into perspective, taking into consideration the bigger picture of migration.”
Governments need to have tools to access the legitimacy of the requests to ensure safe and orderly migration and mobility.
The ideas coming from the sessions will feed the various levels of administrative reviews and policy orientations.
Giving the concluding remarks, Nishi Kant Singh Under Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, GOI, said that EU and India should collaborate and come forward to help start-ups.
