Pune: With over four years of research and planning, Mahindra’s Truck and Bus Division (MTBD), a part of the $20.7 billion Mahindra Group, unveiled the ‘Furio’, its brand new range of Intermediate Commercial Vehicles (ICVs) at its Chakan plant on Tuesday.
Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra Truck and Bus and Construction Equipment Divisions, from Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, were present at the event. Speaking about the vehicle, Sahay said that it is designed by Italian Design and Engineering company Pininfarina.
“Furio is the result of focused efforts of four years from more than 500 Mahindra engineers, 180 suppliers and an investment of Rs 600 crore. The Mahindra Furio bears testimony to Mahindra’s capability of bringing the best to Indian customers since it is based on meticulously gathered customer insights,” added Sahay.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Goenka, Managing Director, Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, said, “The unveiling of the new Furio range of ICV trucks is a defining moment for our truck and bus business as we are set to enter a new orbit and become a full range commercial vehicle player. Mahindra is now the only company to have the range of vehicle starting from three-wheelers to 49 tonnes. The Furio comes at a right time and gets a new engine, new chassis and a new cabin.”
Sahay also added that the designers of Pininfarina were on the ground to understand the needs of Indian truck drivers, their routine in the truck so that they come up with the best solution to increase the efficiency of the truck drivers thereby benefiting the truck owners.
