Pune: Industrial gases company Air Products, announced its inauguration of Engineering Centre in Pune on Tuesday. The centre is built to bridge the company’s increasing capabilities for Engineering, Procurement, Construction (EPC) activities across the country.
The EPC centre opened in Pentagon, Magarpatta is the only engineering centre in India after USA, Allentown (HQ) and Shanghai. The Pune centre will provide technology and equipment for air separation, hydrogen generation and associated technologies for industrial gases application.
“This new centre enhances and supports the development of solutions for the local market where Air Products has had a presence for nearly two decades,” said Samir Serhan, Executive Vice President of Air Products. He added, “The centre will nurture local talent and offer opportunities for local people and in doing support the government’s ‘Skill India’ campaign. At full capacity, we expect the centre will employ 300 skilled engineers.”
“It will act as an EPC innovation hub for the company’s operations in India and throughout the world. The opening of the Pune Centre is a significant step forward in meeting our business goal to expand more its operations in India,” said Sadhan Banerjee, Managing Director, Air Products India.
The company also has an industrial gas complex in Kochi at an investment of around $400 million. The Kochi industrial gas complex is capable of generating hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, and steam, which is invaluable constituent of the Integrated Refinery Expansion Project (IREP) of the BPCL to manufacture auto-fuels complying with Euro-IV/Euro-V specifications.
