Pune: Two trainees under the Kushal programme of CREDAI Pune Metro are set to represent India in the Brick Laying and Wall and Floor Tiling categories at the WorldSkills competition, which is to be held in Abu Dhabi this month. Kushal Skill Training is a partnership project between CREDAI Pune Metro and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to address the issue of shortage of skilled workforce in the construction industry.

Kushal had taken part in WorldSkills Competition 2015 held in Brazil and got Medallion of Excellence in the Brick Laying category. With this inspiration, Kushal is now representing India at the 44th WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi this month.

Representatives from CREDAI Pune Metro said, “We are representing India in 44th WorldSkills Competition in two skills - Brick laying and Wall and Floor Tiling. Kushal CREDAI Pune Metro believes that skills are the foundation of modern and prosperous India. Hence, since September 2016, we are training two trainees, Shailendra and Rohim, who will be competing in the competition.”

They said that the WorldSkills is a Skill Olympics where almost 55 countries across the globe compete for almost 28 different skills. “It provides the biggest ever platform for showcasing the value of skills and raising the recognition of skilled professionals from the nation to a worldwide level. Eventually, it brings pride for our Nation,” they added.
Speaking about the journey of the trainees, they said, “The journey of them, right from their selection to training, international training and now to their preparedness to Worldskills is very interesting and remarkable. To provide them the best possible training, Kushal has established a training centre at TruSpace, Balewadi, Pune. The training not only focuses on the technical part but also considers physical fitness, personality development and exposure to international tools, equipment and training. We are pleased that their efforts throughout the training actually created the Museum representing the Art in Tiling and Brickwork.”
