Up your game

Of late, the gaming industry has become big not only in India, but across the world. The high-tech gaming consoles and the graphics used to make the games can hook any gamer. Rajan Navani, vice chairman and managing director, JetSynthesys, and an avid gamer, tells us how we can have an amazing gaming experience in a humble budget.

PORTABILITY
There are a lot of options out there to choose from when it comes to gaming gadgets, one better than the other. Navani says the most important gaming device would depend on the nature of use. “If you are in a commute, then the smartphone is definitely the best and easiest way to play games. The high end graphics capabilities and broadband connectivity being relatively cheap, smartphones are now powerful and ideally suited for even high end games,” he says, adding, “The Nintendo Switch has been doing really well in markets outside India and can enable gaming at home or an out of home experience since it’s easy to carry around.”

OUT OF THE WORLD EXPERIENCE
Navani says that the immersive experience of Virtual Reality headset is unparalleled. “There are a number of VR headsets in the market — from entry level, cardboard based, to the HTC Vive at the higher end. Then, there's JetSynthesys’ cricket game and Sachin Saga Cricket Champions. The world’s first cricket VR game can be played on both,” Navani adds.

When you are at home, the PC or Console, would provide the most immersive gaming experience. The quality of graphics and depth of gaming possible on these devices is unmatched even on a smartphone. “Virtual reality is now entering consumer homes, and in the next few years, it's expected to become a more mainstream gaming experience where players can buy affordable and high quality VR devices. These experiences are usually meant to be a 15 to 20 minutes experience whereas those on console gaming can last a few hours,” he says.

DURABILITY AND FUNCTIONALITY
Navani says that gaming PCs can run in few hundreds or thousands of rupees, but the best hardware is often the most durable. Like other high end electronics products, gaming PCs and consoles also have manufacturer warranties extending usually up to one year. “Keep them dust free. Using them more often also helps players update the latest software running on these devices. This is important to keep the experience top-notch,” concludes Navani.
