Wembley stadium recreated for ‘Gold’
The Odsal stadium was recreated as the Wembly stadium and was designed exactly like it looked in 1948.
Reema Kagti’s sports drama Gold, highlights India’s emergence from the British Empire when its men’s hockey team met the British hockey team on the field on August 12, 1948. The Indian players won the first Olympic gold medal for the country as an independent nation.
The match was originally played at the iconic Wembley stadium but the makers have shot the iconic scene at Odsal Stadium, West Yorkshire. The Odsal stadium was recreated as the Wembly stadium and was designed exactly like it looked in 1948.
Gold, starring Akshay Kumar, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Kumar Singh and Mouni Roy is a story of a team that fought all odds to bring their nation ‘hope, pride and respect’.
