We would not have survived on the show as contestants, says Kanan Gill

Amazon Prime Video’s Comicstaan brings together seven of India’s best comedians featuring Tanmay Bhat, Kenny Sebastian, Sapan Verma, Naveen Richard, Kaneez Surkha, Kanan Gill and Biswa Kalyan Rath which starts streaming from July 13.
The judges on the show have made a mark in the industry, risen in this platform and earned a credit after proving their mettle. However they confess that the show is not an easy one and creates a tough competition amongst the contestants.
Kanan Gill, one of the mentors on the show, says, “While judging, it gets hard to decide what scores to give as you know the process of creating the joke. Today, as contestants, we would not have survived on the show as there’s constant pressure of creating content across genres.”
“I feel envious that the contestants of Comicstaan would get to hone their skills in multiple forms of comedy within just 10 weeks,” points out Kaneez Surkha another judge on the show.

A source from the show shared, “It’s difficult and exhausting to create content every day with a new genre, and one may not be comfortable with it. Comedians today create content on specific topic only around the clock. But at a platform like Comicstaan, one has to be on the toes throughout and come up with distinct content, at times impromptu, which will further decide their stance in the show.”
