It is that time of the year when you like to get dressed in the most scray outfits, put creepy make-up, hold a pumpkin lantern in your hand and scare your friends. Halloween Day, celebrated on October 31, is the day that brings the wackiest side of you to the forefront. While you can celebrate it at home with friends and family, heading to a pub or a bar and getting involved in the spooky celebrations is not a bad idea either. Here’s how two places are celebrating it...
HALLOWEEN IN ROCK STYLE
The Halloween celebrations at Classic Rock Coffe Co., Baner kicked off on October 24 and will culminate on October 31. Apart from special food and drink menu (where dishes have scary names), the restaurant has planned some fun-filled and surprising activities for all. The decor has also been given a spooky spin. Besides the guitars covered with cobwebs and iconic band posters turning a little scary with dim lighting, the place, keeping the rock theme in mind, is also offering special karaoke night, Halloween Salsa fusion in funky costumes, Willy Rimatsu performing live in the spirit of Halloween, Halloween Dance Night and so on. Says Varsha Kadam, assistant restaurant manager, Classic Rock Cofffee Co., Baner, “We believe Halloween is not just a celebration of one day, hence we’ve kept it a week-long affair offering a unique activity each evening. Patrons can win prizes for the craziest, scariest and weirdest oufits. We have also kept a face-painting activity and are offering costumes on rent to patrons. The staff will wear Halloween costumes and get their face painted too. With scary selfie points, spooky food and cocktails, we aim to make your Halloween celebration even more memorable.”
You can enjoy Classic Halloween Club Night in costumes tonight and on October 29, you can get a chance to bring out your filmy and spooky side with Bollyween — the Halloween Bollywood Club Night. “We have also organised Halloween stand up night where you can laugh at the craziest jokes and we are having Halloween Night Special: Trick or Treat, where one of the best illusionists in our city will trick the customers. If you can catch their trick, your bill will be waived off!” exclaims Kadam.
HALLOWEEN IN ‘WINTER’
If you are a fan of Game of Thrones and have always dreamt of living in Westeros and dressing up like Jon Snow or Khaleesi, here is your chance to live your dream. At Halloween Mayhem — a four day-long celebration of Halloween at Playboy Beer Garden, Balewadi, you will get to be a part of GoT and experience the magic of the kingdoms in Westeros recreated by the restuarant. Nilesh Kadam, the restuarant manager, says that the reason they chose GoT as a theme is because it is something new and also the show is extremely popular. “Who doesn’t watch GoT? We all do, don’t we? So what better way to bring its magic than do a Halloween celebration inspired from the show? The decor has been inspired by the kingdoms, palaces etc for which we have invited special artists from Mumbai.
As far as costumes are concerned, to dress up the staff in GoT characters, special artists have been appointed. Although we insist that our customers come dressed as GoT characters and be a part of the fun, it is not a compulsion. They can come and enjoy some amazing performances by Progressive Brothers and other international artists,” adds Kadam. The restuarant has even designed the menu based on GoT and has some exciting surprises in store for its patrons.
