Actress Tannishtha Chatterjee, who is all set to turn director, has sung a song for a Marathi film titled Pipsi. According to sources, the talented actress saw rushes of the film and really liked the content. “Producer Vidhi Kasliwal then spoke to her about lending her vocal chords for a song and the actress readily agreed,” adds the source.
Says Vidhi, “I’ve known Tannishtha for quite a few years. We reconnected at an international film festival and got talking about Pipsi. Later when the film was complete, we approached her as I knew she could sing well. I am happy that she agreed.”
The song marks Tannishtha’s first ever Marathi song debut, following her Marathi feature last year. The song is titled Gooz and Tannishtha has sung the reprised version. “Gooz takes the viewers through the journey of the protagonist, an eight-year old Chaani (played by Maithili Patwardhan), who along with her best friend Balu (played by Sahil Joshi) embarks on a journey of hope to save her ailing mother with the unflinching belief that the fate of her mother is tied with the life of a fish they name Pipsi,” says the source.
Speaking about how Tannishtha coped with the language, Vidhi added saying “This was Tannishtha’s first Marathi playback. She took extra care of getting the emotions, notes and the pronunciation right. She is a perfectionist,” she adds. Tannishtha had earlier sung a song for Gulab Gang.
