Actress Taapsee Pannu is enjoying her time as her new trailer Judwaa 2 is getting rave reviews. But besides appearing in movies, Taapsee is also is known for doing her bit for social cause. Having worked in films like PINK and Naam Shabana, Taapsee has become the face of woman empowerment after having portrayed strong roles on screen.

Taapsee has always been vocal about the need for gender equality and women safety and for this she is now working together with Techfest, IIT Bombay towards promoting sanitary education by distribution of sanitary napkins in villages and also organising self-defense workshops for women. Taapsee will also be delivering a keynote on this at the Techfest. This will create more awareness and generate equality for women as Taapsee has been considered a role model to many women given her strong and empowering roles.

Techfest is a great platform to take this message forward and speaking about this, Taapsee said, “I have never understood why mensuration has always been such a hushed up topic and needs code words to address it or talk about it. Probably that’s one of the reasons why the sanitary health of women could not really improve because discussing about freely has been such a taboo. It’s a natural and extremely critical aspect of womanhood which surely needs to be discussed and addressed so people understand it better. Delighted to see the students of IIT Bombay working in this direction and extremely happy to extend my support for the same.”

Techfest presents social initiatives every year to lead the society towards eradicating some of these  and this year Taapsee has collaborated with the team as the face for this women empowerment initiative.
