Veteran filmmaker JP Dutta, who gave us some of the finest war dramas, including the National award winning Border, is back with  his next ambitious project titled Paltan.

Making an official announcement about the film, JP Dutta says, “It’s time we diverted our attention to our other neighbour, who is a bigger threat than Pakistan. A mighty power in world politics, China is claiming Arunachal Pradesh as a part of its territory. Even their map shows the state as a part of their country. During the 1962 war, China took over a large part of Ladakh and feels that the remaining area belongs to it, too. It’s a discussion waiting to happen, which makes the film’s subject relevant. This is the time to address some hard-hitting questions about the history of India’s relations with China. I have the Central government’s support on the project and can’t wait to get started on the set.”

The makers are yet to make an official announcement but the film is said to boast of an exciting ensemble star-cast. It’s learnt that the veteran filmmaker has recently signed Sonu Sood to be part of his ambitious project. Apart from Sonu, the film will also star Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Suniel Shetty, Jimmy Shergill, Pulkit Samrat, Luv Sinha, Siddhant Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.

Sonu’s wish to portray the role of a soldier on the big screen will finally be fulfilled with this war film, that promises to be bigger and better. The talented actor will play a Major who hails from Rajasthan.

Sonu says, “I had wanted to get into the Army but then I decided to pursue engineering, and later I got into acting. But getting into that army uniform was always a high for me. Even in my acting career, I always thought that it will be a dream come true to play an army officer. I have completely enjoyed all the war films — whether Hindi or English. It gives you a patriotic feeling. I think it’s a huge high for any actor to play a soldier, and I am looking forward to starting work on this project.”

Paltan, which goes on floors later this year, is scheduled for a 2018 summer release.
