If you want footwear to speak your mind, look up Presa

A good pair of footwear definitely adds to your get up, and even elevates your confidence. Delhi-based startup Presa makes sure that you not only put your best foot forward but the designs also help you speak your mind.  

The brainchild of Preeti Falwaria, co-founder and CEO, Sakshi Dolia, co-founder and creative director, and Pulkit Gaur, co-founder and CTO, Presa’s title was coined after taking inspiration from its co-founders’ names — Preeti and Sakshi. 

Giving us a little insight into what made them come up with their startup, Falwaria says that she was in marketing and media but always wanted to do something extra. Dolia’s passion was to create something expressive and different from what was out there already, which the co-founders agree is well reflected in their designs. And Gaur joined Presa because he did not want to settle for the mundane. 

The inspiration behind starting Presa was to make something which actually reflects the wearer’s personality. “Being a woman, I used to look for something which could reflect my personality,” says Falwaria, mentioning that she had seen clothing lines which had slogans on t-shirts. However, she could not find that right pair of shoes which could speak  her mind or reflect her attitude.

Thus the three friends started their research on millennials and their lifestyle and preferences, and how often they buy and change their footwear.  

“The thought of producing something which immediately grabs eyeballs kept us working hard. And after six months’ research we came out with our first 25 designs which were a lot of fun and as much quirky as possible,” says Falwaria and continues, “At Presa, we provide customers with uncommon designs which are easy to fuse in with your style yet help you stand out from the crowd.” 

Their aim is to create a fun element in one’s outfit with their footwear. She explains that their footwear is handcrafted keeping in mind four aspects which are design, comfort, quality and colour combinations. Explaining the four aspects, Falwaria says that they aim to create uniqueness and the designs are such that one can create several different looks with one single design. While confidence is the key to pull off any outfit or a pair of shoes, at Presa the co-founders believe that confidence comes best with comfort because of which they ensure that the lining material feels comfortable to the skin and the shoes have a snug fit. 

She further says that since their footwear is handcrafted, each and every piece is skilfully and efficiently made. “Right from stitching to pasting, everything is taken care of and durability is our supreme motive.” 

Colours give life to things and their footwear has a lot of colours. “We aim to provide with such combinations that add to your looks,” says Kalwaria. 

Talking about the process that goes into making the footwear, Kalwaria explains, “Our artisans manufacture each product manually with careful attention to the design and comfort.” She further says that the raw material used is of the best quality. 

Mentioning the challenges that they have to face, Kalwaria says, “Customers never find the right fit and sole for their feet leading to discomfort because of which there are a lot of returns on online sales.” 

However they are now trying to solve the basic problem of the right fit and material for the sole. 

Presa primarily caters to women’s footwear where the products available are flats and heels and other types as well. The average price of the shoes range from Rs 1700 to Rs 3,000 and can be shopped at their website
