Mobile phone photographer Mohammad Masood Alam shares some tips and tricks that one can easily follow and use to get an amazing shot

If you don’t have a picture of it, a moment never happened. In the 21st century, it is all about good pictures and uploading them constantly on social media platforms.

But not all of us can handle and more importantly afford a good DSLR. That however does not mean we cannot take good pictures. Turns out, we don’t need a professional camera to click good pictures, the one on our smartphone works equally well.

Mohammad Masood Alam, who runs the Instagram account Photosticlife, where all the pictures uploaded are actually captured on a smartphone, tells us some tips and tricks that one can easily follow and use for an amazing shot.

Alam points out that there is nothing to be scared of using mobile phone camera. “We shouldn’t just open the camera app and start taking pictures. We need to allow some time for the camera to focus on the said object and then hit the shutter button,” he says.

He suggests that after one is done clicking the picture, one shouldn’t just walk away. “Wait for a minute and see if you are happy with the result. If not, focus once more and then capture,” adds Alam.

Talking about a few things to keep in mind to capture a good shot, Alam suggests that one must activate the grid on their camera app from the settings. This helps in composing the picture within the frame. “If you want to properly compose pictures, using the grid can help you do that with the rule of thirds,” says Alam. The rule of thirds, he explains, is a nine square box with four intersections and the subject which you want to show should be in at least one of the intersection points.

To get clean and sharp pictures, one must make sure that the camera focus does not move and for that, one needs to ensure that the mobile is steady while taking a shot. “To get right focus, we should simply tap on the subject we want to focus and capture it only when the focus is set,” suggests Alam.

He also points out that he prefers using Lightroom, an app which gives enough basic tools to edit pictures and instantly upload them.
