For any woman, the most empowering feeling is when she earns her own bread and butter, pays her own bills and runs her own life without being financially dependent on anyone. With the same idea, FICCI FLO Pune Chapter works to help women be financially independent.

The organisation with its headquarters in Delhi, and 14 chapters across states in India, represents 6,000 women entreprneurs and professionals.

Armed with over 30 years of experience, FLO has been promoting entrepreneurship and professional excellence in women through various workshops, seminars and conferences. This year, tyre manufacturing company, BridgeStone India Pvt Ltd announced a partnership with FICCI FLO Pune Chapter. Chairperson of FICCI FLO Pune Chapter, Sangeeta Lalwani said, “We have been working for women’s welfare for over 30 years, and we still have a long way to go, in terms of gender equality and financial independence for women.”

Talking about Pune FLO half marathon, she said, “We are delighted to be associated with BridgeStone India Pvt Ltd for the marathon. We are expecting around 10,000 participants. Whatever funds will flow in through the event, will be invested for women’s welfare.”

Parag Satpute, MD, BridgeStone India Pvt Ltd, said, “I am very excited about the collaboration between the two organisations. A marathon is a great idea because firstly, it’s an engaging activity for the employees and at the same time, it will also help in the betterment of the women community.”

When asked how the collaboration came about, he said, “Business should not be just about earning money, it should also be about what you are giving to society.  FICCI FLO has a great history in the field of women empowerment, and so the partenership was the best decision.”

FICCI FLO Pune Chapter is going to come up with different platforms which will help women learn new skills, and help them earn a living too.  FLO will organise different events like Pune Haat which will take place at Poona Club. It will give an opportunity to indigenous entrepreneurs to come out and showcase their products outside their small groups.
