Ranbir Kapoor returns to the Mijwan stage after 4 years

The actor who is the Goodwill Ambassador of Mijwan Welfare Society will be the showstopper for  the 9th Annual Fashion show The Walk of Mijwan by Manish Malhotra — The Summer Collection 2018. Helmed by Shabana Azmi and Namrata Goyal, The Walk of Mijwan marks the long journey of nine years since Manish and MWS have joined hands. Along with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone will also walk the ramp.

Says Ranbir, “We, the young people of India, need to turn our attention towards rural India and focus on empowering the girl child. My sister Riddhima and I were raised as equals and I want every girl and boy to be treated equally. To my young friends, I say ‘Be the Change you wish to see in the world’. You can do it and your time starts now.”

The renowned poet late Kaifi Azmi founded Mijwan Welfare Society with the goal of making Mijwan a scaleable and replicable model of development with a focus on the girl child and women.  Says Youth President Namrata Goyal, “The annual Mijwan Fashion Show brings the spotlight on Mijwan and gives us the means to carry on all the work behind the scenes that MWS does — we run The Kaifi Azmi School and Inter College for girls, The Kaifi Azmi Computer Centre, The Kaifi Azmi Sewing and Embroidery Centre, The Sewing and Embroidery Centre  started with 40 girls today it has 400 workers spread over 10 villages in UP.”

Shabana Azmi adds that in the nine years since the first Mijwan Fashion Show launched, she has received unstinted support from her film fraternity. “Every one from Amitabh Bachchan Shahrukh Khan to Ranveer Singh, Sidharth Malhotra, Priyanka Chopra and Shradhdha Kapoor have walked for us.”
