One of the top five, highest selling women authors in India, Preeti Shenoy, won the 2017 ‘Indian of the Year’ award in New Delhi. Shenoy has been consistently nominated for the Forbes List of the 100 most influential celebrities in India since 2013, according to a press release issued by her publisher, Westland Publications Ltd.
Shenoy’s published works include It’s All in the Planets, Why We Love the Way We Do, It Happens For A Reason, The One You Cannot Have, The Secret Wishlist, Tea for Two and A Piece of Cake, Life Is What You Make It, and 34 Bubblegums and Candies.
Commenting on her win, the author says, “It has come as a total surprise. I am honoured and humbled at the same time. I was buried in writing my ninth book, when I got the news. It took a couple of hours to even sink in, as I had to extricate myself from the world I created in my book, and crash land into the real world. When it finally registered what a big award this is, I quickly looked at how many hours it would take away from my writing time! Jokes apart, I thank Brands Academy for the award, and a big thank you to my publishers who have put their trust in my writing, and my readers who shower me with love.”
The award ceremony was organised by Brands Academy, to recognise the achievements of deserving personalities that have contributed towards building reputation of the country. It also focused on celebrating the achievements of leaders and on PM Modi’s Vision — New India 2022. All awardees have in their own way contributed towards the growth and development of the nation in different ways.
Other prominent winners are Deepa Malik (Paralympics Gold Winner), Kavita Krishnamurthy (Singer), Rajdeep Sardesai (TV Journalist), Shweta Singh (TV Journalist), Ranveer Brar (Celebrity Chef & TV Host).
