While spring is about everything new and vibrant, summer tends to make you a little sluggish. But it’s still the season to sing, dance, play, go on vacations and get a little adventurous. Hence, it is mandatory that your fashion is in sync with the season. So men, if you have been following a particular fashion for years, it is time to reinvent yourselves and try out new styles.
“Let the season bring out the best in you — the vibrant hues, bold statements, stripes, and adorned denims―everything about the spring-summer fashion has to be happy and easy going,” says Parisha Dalal, a Bhopal-based stylist. She further adds that men who have remained shy and refrained from flaunting bold prints and patterns, must take the risk of going overboard this season. “Love yourself and reflect self love in your style — florals, pastels, and checks and a lot of embroideries are the statement for the season,” she adds.
Abhishek Yadav, design head of Spykar, says that this season, the desire for a fuss-free, timeless wardrobe sees utilitarian silhouettes merge with modern materials. “This season is all about indigo that develops into a fresh nomadic look with an urban attitude. This spring-summer, relaxed and easy is the key while free-flowing and comfortable products should be your mantra. A palette of deep blues holds the look of the season together. Unfinished edges and crafty patchworks add to the garment character. A more worldly approach to denim mixes traditional jeanswear staples with local culture, to create new looks,” he adds.
Some of the trends that you can rock this spring-summer season are:
It is time to combine military and workwear to create a grunge look. Light weight fabrics have a contemporary and functional appeal, so it is time to befriend them. If you have uniform-inspired look, go for bigger pockets, clean seams and badge details to create the look. If you want to stand out from the crowd of bright colours, go for camoufladge patterns in warm earthy colours as they will add drama to your overall styling.
This spring-summer season, aviation-inspired garments must rule men’s casual and street styling. If you thought you cannot sport the style at workplace, think again as ergonomic (designed for efficiency and comfort in the working environment) seaming, badges and micro details on stylish flight suits and bomber jackets will give you an edgy look at the workplace. Don’t hesitate to flaunt the military aviators.
As much as women, men’s apparel this spring-summer season calls for tropical motifs, fresh and exotic colour palette to accetuate their casual look and add some brightness that goes with the mood of the season.
The choice of fabric is essenstial too, hence fabrics that have freshness and sharpness must be in your closet. Prints and embroideries make a stronger statement, so if you are looking at creating a bold statement, just go for them. However, if you wish to sport something that is inspired from nature and greenery, tropical floral and botanical prints in earthly or pastel shades is your answer.
Although spring and summers are about cottons and fluid fabric, do not ditch your denims, just reinvent them. To break away from the monotony of wearing the same denims, go for ocean inspired denim washes and finishes. The various shades of ingidos — ranging from mid to light, high-contrast effects and a more intense palette of deep indigos should be your fashion staple. This season, there is an emphasis on washes, dyeing and ombre, which reimagines denim staples almost as future artefacts.
The ‘70s styling and retro look are here to stay and spring-summer season is the perfect time to flaunt it. Stripes will make your spring-summer fashion appealing, classic and sauve. Do not stick to one type of stripes — go for large retro-inspired stripes that are vertical. They will help you create a ‘70s collegiate look.
Classic heritage checks should be reimagined with a slight twist of minimal details and wash processes.
This season, patchwork shirting and casual tailored trousers are going to be in vogue. 3D techniques in fabrics will give you a feel of exclusivity.
Badges and placement prints are major fashioning elements. They are going to rule men’s fashion this season. Don’t shy away from embracing statement pieces like embroidery badges to enhance the appeal of the garments.
If you want to get a bit experimental, playing with natural patterns and textures created to look like an abstarct art, will certainly be a perfect choice for colourful spring-summer wear. Patterns and deep blue colours in ocean-inspired watery effects on denim and casual cotton shirting will certainly make heads turn.
