Adjectives like ‘Brave’, ‘Just’, ‘People’s ruler’ don’t really do justice to the image of Chhatrapati Shivaji. His life and reign dedicated to his people, complete with inspiring anecdotes, will now be presented in a musical-dance production — Teerth Shivray on Monday evening at Ganesh Kalakreeda Manch.
The programme has been conceptualised by city-based group Shree Sant Sewa Sangh, and will also be presented in different parts of the state. According to Tushar Sakore, of Shree Sant Sewa Sangh, “Teerth Shivray has put together a few important episodes from the life of Shivaji Maharaj. Dr Nikhil Pathak has penned 40 songs on the great warrior, out of which 20 will be presented on Monday evening. Dance pieces choreographed by Kathak dancer Neelima Hirwe and Bharatnatyam dancer Neha Bhate too will be a part of the production.”
On Monday evening, a line-up of singers including Chandrashekar Mahamuni, Jitendra Abhyankar, Chaitanya Kulkarni and Jasraj Joshi will be performing the songs.
“The funds that will be generated from the programme will go towards the cause of building a school in Fanshi village, at the foothills of Raigad,” adds Swarnima, the Trustee of Shree Sant Sewa Sangh.
The organisation believes that the youth and children need to be educated about our culture and history besides studying the modern day academics.
