Manoj honored at London International Film Festival

In the past few months, two times National award winning actor Manoj Bajpayee has been on the national and international circuit for his performance in Love Sonia and Gali Guleiyan (In the Shadows). He recently won the best actor award at New York Indian Film Festival for Gali Guleiyan, which simultaneously premiered at three prestigious international film festivals — Busan, Chicago, Dubai — and Mumbai’s MAMI film festival.

The actor was presented with the honourary title of Pure Heaven Icon award at the London International Film Festival for his portrayal of an unconventional pimp, Faizal in Love Sonia. The actor was in London for the showcase of the film along with the cast and crew. The film opened to a jam-packed audience at the famous Leicester Square.

In the past iconic Indian filmmakers like Shekar Kapur, Mani Ratnam and others were honoured with the title of Pure Heaven Icon. “It’s a privilege to receive such a prestigious award and listed with such great people like Mani Ratnam and Shekhar Kapur. I humbly accept this honour and thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.”

Tabrez Noorani’s Love Sonia is also the opening night film for the upcoming Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2018, which will kick off from August 10.

The film also stars Mrunal Thakur, Richa Chadha, Frieda Pinto, Demi Moore, Anupam Kher, Rajkummar Rao and Sai Tamhankar and is based on the widespread epidemic of human trafficking and global sex trade network.
