Another Marathi film which released on Friday also talks about father-son relationship. The first one being Baap Janma. Zindagi Virat is set against a rural background, with noted Marathi actor Kishor Kadam playing the role of the father to Om Bhutkar playing his son.
Directed-scripted by Sumit Sanghamitra, the story revolves around the death of the father and how the son goes about fulfilling his wishes. Om said, “I play the role of a son, who is an innocent guy. The story is about what happens in his life.”
Kishor, who has acted in critically acclaimed Marathi as well as Bollywood films including Fandry, Natarang, Deool, Jogwa, Black Friday, and Special 26, plays a light role in Zindagi Virat. “I appeal to all directors to consider me for some light roles too, I’d love to wear some good clothes,” Kishor joked.
When asked what has he learnt from the younger generation, Kishor who writes poetry under the pen name of Saumitra, replied, “Enthusiasm. The approach youngsters have towards a certain subject and life in general is unique. The current generation is aware as they have access to multiple channels, be it cinema or technology. They try to bring forth the issues that are plaguing the world in a very sincere and honest manner.”
Speaking about the experience of shooting the movie, Om who comes from theatre background said that though he hails from a city and the movie was shot in a village, he did not have too much trouble adjusting to the atmosphere. “My mother comes from a village and I have been going there since childhood. I could hence relate to the kind of life lived in the villages,” he said. “The only challenging part,” he quipped “was grasping the dialect.”
The movie has three songs, out of which ‘Malhar’ has already become a rage among the youth. The video has approximately 5 million views so far and still counting. The music director duo of Suraj–Dheeraj, who are twins, have experimented with three different genres for the three songs. ‘Malhar’ is an upbeat number and has been sung by Vishal Dadlani. The second song which is a romantic number has been sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghosal and the third yet unreleased has been sung by Javed Ali. The music directors said that their intention was to give the music a rural touch but a universal appeal.
Anjaneya Sathe, who is the grandson of Amrish Puri, has produced the movie. The débutant producer said that love for movies run in his blood.
