“A lot of my friends from the industry who know me since years attended the screening to wish me luck. But Rekhaji coming for the screening was a rare thing. Post the screening, she congratulated me for the series and wished me luck,” Suparn adds.

The filmmaker, who recently showcased his latest web series, Yo Ke Hua Bro at a special screening held on September 1, says life has come a full circle for him, as the event was attended by the legendary actress Rekha with whom he has worked in the movie Aastha (1997).

Directed by Suparn, Yo Ke Hua Bro is a digital series for Voot (Viacom), starring Shamita Shetty and Aparshakti Khurrana among others.

Not many know that Suparn has shared the screen space with the yesteryear diva in her movie Aastha, also starring the late actors Om Puri and Navin Nischol. Suparn was extremely delighted to meet and greet the veteran actress at the screening of his web series.

Suparn recollects, “I played one of the college students in Aastha and it was a small role. I was in my final year graduation when the movie released. After all these years, meeting Rekhaji at the screening of my web series was a surreal experience. She is so gracious and admirable.”

“A lot of my friends from the industry who know me since years attended the screening to wish me luck. But Rekhaji coming for the screening was a rare thing. Post the screening, she congratulated me for the series and wished me luck,” Suparn adds.

Besides Rekha, the screening was also attended by Shilpa Shetty, Farah Khan, R Madhavan, Bipasha Basu, Harshvardhan Rane, Arslan Goni, Upen Patel, Tanuj Garg and Mushtaq Sheikh among others who praised Suparn’s work and wished him well.

Suparn has written 12 feature films and directed four, in genres varying from horror, thriller, comedy and drama including the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-Bipasha Basu-starrer Aatma, web series X - Past is Present, and his writing credits include films like Qayamat, Zameen, Karam and several others.
