It’s snack time

During evenings, you have this craving for small bites. To satisfy your hunger pangs, you order food from your favourite restaurant. But what if food delivery apps are down because of some technical glitch and walking down to the nearest eatery is also not possible because of the rains and traffic? What’s your best option then? Just walk into your kitchen, pick a few ingredients, put your thinking cap on and cook a simple dish.  

To make it a little more easier for you, we picked some of the most common ingredients found in Indian kitchens and asked chefs to come up with recipes. And they did cook up a few super easy dishes. 

FIERY NOODLES
Ingredients
- Instant noodles... - 250gm
- Olive oil... - 2tbsp 
- Onion, finely chopped.. - .½ 
- Carrot, chopped... - ½ 
- Cabbage, shredded.. - .4tbsp 
- Beans, chopped... - 4
- Capsicum, chopped... - ½ 
- Schezwan sauce.. - .2tbsp 
- Salt... - ½ tsp
 
Method
- In a large kadhai, heat olive oil and saute onion on high flame and add carrot, cabbage, beans and capsicum.
- Stir fry on high flame without overcooking the vegetables. 
- In another pan, boil the noodles until half cooked and keep aside. 
- Add Schezwan sauce and salt. Stir fry for a minute. 
- Add cooked noodles and stir fry on high flame. Mix until the sauce is well cooked.

NUTELLA AND BANANA PIZZA
Ingredients
- Pizza base or bread... - 1
- Nutella spread.. - .30gm
- Bananas, ripe. - .2
- Walnuts... - 10gm 
- Sugar. - ..10gm
- White chocolate, melted. - ..10gm
- Butter.. - 5gm

Method
- Take the pizza base and smear it with butter and toast it in the oven or on the pan till the base gets crunchy. 
- Spread Nutella on the base.
- Slice the bananas into small pieces, toss them into a frying pan with sugar and add a few drops of water and caramelise the sugar. 
- Add the cooked slices on the layer of Nutella. 
- Add walnuts into the remaining caramel and sprinkle some on the pizza. 
- Melt the white chocolate and drizzle a bit on the pizza and serve.

CHILLI CHEESE TOAST
Ingredients
- Cheddar, mozzarella cheese, shredded... - 1cup 
- Capsicum, finely chopped...    - 1 
- Garlic, finely chopped... - 2 cloves 
- Green chillies, finely chopped.. - 1 
- Pepper... - ½ tsp  
- Salt to taste 
- Butter to spread 
- Bread... - 4 slices 

Method
- Add cheese, capsicum, garlic and chillies in a mixing bowl.
- Add pepper and salt. 
- Mix well making sure to combine all together. Keep aside. 
- Spread the butter on bread slice. Toast the butter side till it turns golden and crisp. 
- Remove the bread slice from the tawa and cut into halves. 
- Heat tawa and spread butter on the other side of the bread slice and top it with mixed cheese. 
- Cover with a lid and allow to cook on low flame till the cheese melts completely. Alternatively, you can bake it in the oven in 500 degrees Fahrenheit or 250-degree Celsius for about 5-8 minutes. Once the cheese melts, it is ready to serve. 
- Serve Cheese Chilli Toast hot with chilli flakes and oregano on top.

JACKFRUIT KURKURI
Ingredients
- Jackfruit pieces... - 300gm
- Lemon juice... - 2 tsp
- Salt...     - ½ tsp
- Red chilli powder... - 1tsp
- Buck wheat (flour )... - 2tbsp
- Gram flour... - 2 tbsp
- Cumin powder... - 1tsp
- Coriander powder... - 1tsp
- Turmeric powder.. - .½ tsp
- Chaat masala.. - .½ tsp
- Mustard oil as required

Method
- Cut jackfruit into small pieces, blanch and dry.
- Place it in a bowl; add some salt and lemon juice to it.
- Add gram flour, kuttu flour, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric and red chilli powder.
- Mix well so that the jackfruit gets coated completely.
- Heat oil and fry the jackfruit till golden and crisp.
- Sprinkle with a little chaat masala.
- Relish with herbs chutney pounded on stone and jaggery tamarind chutney.
