After showing her dance moves in Nach Baliye season 8 along with her boyfriend Shoaib Ibrahim, Dipika Kakar is on a break. The Saasural Simar Ka actress is in Pune for couple of days to relax and catch up with some of her close friends.
Not many know that Dipika has spent a major part of her life in the city. When we caught up with the actress, she said, “After my father retired from the army, we settled in Pune. So I have lived here for many years. I have many friends here and I keep meeting my teachers too.” She loves the city because she spent her young days here. “I am big foodie. I love Kayani and Marz-o-Rin. These places remind me of my childhood. There’s so much warmth in this city. Because I have mostly lived in PCMC, I love Pradikaran at Nigdi. The bungalows built there give a small town feeling to the place,” she said. Though her parents don't live in Pune anymore, and have shifted in with Dipika in Mumbai, she keeps coming back to visit her friends.
She claimed that this is a much needed trip after shooting for Sasural Simar Ka and Nach Baliye. “I have worked in Sasural... for 6 years with only 15 days of break. I was forced to take the break after my doctor said that my health has deteriorated. It has been very hectic for me,” she said.
Though Dipika and her partner Shoaib did not win the celebrity couple dance reality show Nach Baliye, they certainly won the hearts of the viewers and the judges. “We love dancing and along with that, we got to learn a lot. It was great being trained by talented choreographers. It was a tough competition on the show because not only everyone was a great dancer, but they were so popular too. So, we had great fun on the show and we took back so many memories.” She added that the most memorable moment was the one when Shoaib proposed her on the show. “I can never forget that,” she said.
The pretty actress isn’t surprised with Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya winning the show. “I don’t think anyone can match the popularity that Divyanka enjoys. People are crazy about her. Most people felt that they won because of popularity votes but they are forgetting that she has worked really hard to win that kind of popularity,” she added.
After Shoaib proposed to her on the show, the couple’s fans are curious to know when they plan to tie the knot. Dipika said that they might plan to get married either in December or January 2018. “We have started planning the wedding but we haven't yet decided if it's going to be a destination wedding or if we will get married in Bhopal. We want a grand wedding, but not too big,” she said.
Is the actress planning to take a long break before she returns to the small screen? “I have already started giving auditions. I am not a fussy actor. My only criteria is that I should be comfortable doing the role. I am not in a hurry to sign a show,” she said, adding that she doesn’t want to take up something that will cause her popularity to wane. “at the end of the day, if you approach your work with dedication, people will appreciate you,” she said before signing off.
