This year apart from some amazing EDM artists, VH1 Supersonic 2018 is also featuring a couple of live bands for the first time. And who better then California-based rock band Incubus to get you head-baning? As headliners, you also have Marshmello, Major Lazer, Incubus, Alt J, Dillon Francis and Sean Paul to make sure you have a ‘super’ time. During the walk-through of the festival with Sakal Times before the festival kicked off, Nikhil Chinapa took us all around the festival area and showed us the best parts.
There is a total of six stages at the festival, which will include one stage for experimental music called Laboratoire and another very cute stage near the eating area called the Beer Garden with wooden benches where reggae will be played throughout the festival. “At any time during the festival, you will find about 20-30 people gathered here around this reggae stage. These are the people who are hard-core reggae fans and they love the vibe of this stage and don’t want to move from here,” says Nikhil.
There is a techno stage, which he reveals to be ‘slightly’ more inclined towards as an audience.
Talking about the Spectrum by Awakenings stage, Nikhil says, “When you’re at the festival, I urge you to catch at least one act on this stage. There is a special LED show which is made by the Awakenings’ team in Holland in collaboration with our team of visual artists here,” he says.
The main stage, where all the headliners will be performing, is called the Sonic Realm. “You see the clock, the hands actually move but anti-clockwise. And the wings of the lady bug open and close at intervals. There’s a deer right on top too, that’s why I like to call this stage ‘Deer, oh! Dear!’” he laughs.
There is a big flea market with food stalls and games too. If you’re tired of all the running around from one stage to another, you can walk into the De-stress tent to relax, have some herbal tea (which Nikhil plans on doing) or play some board games and make new friends.
There are many fun photobooths social media butterflies might want to make a stop for a few clicks.
