Glitz and glamour galore
The second season of Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra was a roaring success. A report
P N Gadgil and Sons presents Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra, held at The Fern Hotels and Club on February 16 was a mix of emotions — a tad bit of anxiety as to who would win the coveted crown, the proud feeling of victory and the disappointment among those who missed the crown by a whisker. But what a stellar evening it was!
The proceedings began by remembering our brave soldiers who were martyred at Pulwama.
Then the star-studded line up of the judges which included Mugdha Godse, Siddharth Jadhav, Sai Lokur, Pushkar Jog, Resham Tipnis, Smita Gondkar, Mrinmai Kolwalkar, Prarthana Behere, Niyati Joshi and Dr Renu Gadgil, were welcomed on stage by Raqesh Bapat and Neha Deshpande, the delightful hosts for the evening.
To pump up energy among all, Namrata Gaikwad and group set the stage on fire with their energetic and enthralling dance performance, which definitely set the mood for the rest of the night.
After this the finalists walked down the ramp giving the audience a glimpse of the training and grooming that they had gone through over the past few days, and they had indeed put their best foot forward.
The audience also witnessed what it takes to be a genius, when children from the Genius Kids group put up a performance. Their smartness and quirkiness amazed most adults as well as RJ Tarun, the co-host.
The talent round saw a number of performances by the contestants. The energetic dances, melodious songs and gripping acts kept the audience entertained throughout.
And then, the top 20 contestants walked down the ramp one final time before the final nine were selected. The finalists then faced the judges in the question and answer round with confidence and wit. The judges were quite impressed with them.
Sharwari Jamenis put up an elegant and graceful Kathak dance performance along with her troop. It was a spectacle not only for the audience but also for the contestants who were gearing up for the grand finale.
It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the immensely talented girls gave a hard time to judges to select the winners. But at Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra, it was not only about a pretty face; the contestants had to be talented and also have the hope of fulfilling their dreams and the capacity to do so.
The tough decision that it was, the judges finally put the crown of Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra on Pune girl Pooja Birari while Vedika Muthe and Simran Naik became the first and second runner-up respectively.
Birari attributed her success to the great deal of dedication not only on her part but also on the part of those who groomed her for the competition. “Winning the title of Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra has given me the confidence to accomplish whatever I set my mind to,” she said.
“Until now, winning a pageant was something that I never thought I would be able to do and I am so glad I decided to be a part of this pageant. I got to love my dream and in the process learn from each and everyone here,” said Muthe.
Naik said that being a part of Sakal Beauty of Maharashtra has helped her get one step closer to her goal of becoming a super model. “A bit of excitement and immense hardwork is what it took me thus far. The reason why it was even more fun is because here, I could meet some strong-headed girls,” she observed.
