Fans unite to save ‘ Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’

For past few days, there has been several reports about Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai going off air. Since the news is out, fans of the show on social media have started a campaign  #saveyudkbh. Their attempt is to stop the show, which stars Randeep Rai and Ashi Singh, from going off air. 

Sony Channel on Tuesday confirmed the reports about Yeh Un.... going off air. “When Sony Entertainment Television brought a beautiful show like Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, it instantly struck a chord with the viewers. The late night run of the show became an instant hit and defined nostalgia for the audiences against the backdrop of the 90’s. Portraying the sweet and simple love story of Sameer and Naina essayed by Randeep Rai and Ashi Singh respectively, the show proved that love can surpass any situation and strengthen the bond further,” said Ashish Golwalkar, Programming Head, Sony Entertainment Television in a statement. 

“The journey of their relationship established a great connect with the viewers and the love that the show and its characters received has only increased.” 

The channel said that Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai is now in its final leg and this sweet and simple journey of romance has reached its culmination where both the leads come to a mutual understanding that they work best together, as writers. “While it is an emotional moment for everyone closely associated with the show but, as they say, ‘All good things come to an end, so has this immensely popular show,” he further added. 

Golwalkar added that the sequel of the show is already under planning. “Season 2 of Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai will hit your TV screens soon,” he said. 

But the makers of the show Sumeet and Sashi Mittal, on whom the serial is based is overwhelmed by the efforts taken by audience to save the show. Writer and producer Sumeet Mittal reacting on his Instagram page wrote, “I’m feeling numb and overwhelmed right now. Got a call from a 16 year old girl from West Bengal requesting me in an extremely emotional way that please don’t shut YUDKBH. People love this show from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to West Bengal to Gujarat from bottom of their heart. And we all are praying that it doesn’t end! When we had started the show, we thought it would create a nostalgia and will be likened by the people of our ages and era.”
