Every home has a unique character and Tanvi Sekhsaria, founder of Little Ms Designer, an interior designing and furniture brand based out of Mumbai, believes in highlighting it

It takes a lot of effort to build a house and design a home. Tanvi Sekhsaria of Little Ms Designer, an interior designing and furniture brand based out of Mumbai, makes sure that a home is well designed but at the same time retains its uniqueness.

“Every furniture has a story of its own which adds to the character of the home,” she says, but to create each piece a lot of inspiration is required. Little Ms Designer caters to interior designing of commercial and residential spaces and adds a little magic to a four-walled place.

Telling us what made her call her startup Little Ms Designer, Sekhsaria says, “I am a very petite person which has been pointed out many times, but even though I am tiny I have a big heart which is reflected in all the work we do through Little Ms Designer.” She strongly believes that any small idea can bring about a big smile on a person’s face so even if her company is called Little Ms Designer, they strive to bring big smiles on their clients’ faces.

“When it comes to interior designing there are endless options available in the market but what makes us different from them is that we treat each and every project as if we were designing our own home,” says Sekhsaria.

Explaining the process she says that before accepting a project they usually do an inspection of the property and understand the client’s requirements and expectations. “After brainstorming and coming up with creatives all within the budget we consult the client once again before going ahead with the execution,” she adds.

She mentions that all the orders are customised. Recently, Sekhsaria designed a chester-drawer in the shape of stacked suitcases. “Most homes do not have enough storage spaces because of which we conceal storage and utility spaces within beds, cupboards and chester-drawers. So the finished piece is not only quirky but useful too,” she says.

When asked what inspires her to come up with something new and interesting every time and she says that inspiration can be found everywhere, one just needs to pay attention. “It is also important to keep tabs on what is trending and understand what works and what doesn’t,” she adds.

She says that as a customer, people want their homes to stand out and sometimes even have a bit of unrealistic demands but Sekhsaria points out that her company makes it a point to understand the requirement and the budget of the client and then pitch in the ideas which are both unique and affordable.

Talking about the latest trends in interior designing, Sekhsaria says that the colour blocking technique is picking up pace even in the home space as well, mentioning that she has used the technique not only on walls but also when it comes to furniture placement. “We place lounge chairs in bright and classy colours in front of a plain wall with a contrasting colour which highlights the chair.”

Sekhsaria can be contacted through their facebook page for appointments and consultation.
