Social For Action organised the 2nd edition of the delightful workshop, Choco-Craft --- Chocolate For a Cause, throughout February at various places across Pune. The workshop saw participants picking up chocolate making and baking skills from the experts.

Last Saturday, February 23, Gulshan Kumar, executive chef, The Orchid Hotel, Pune, Balewadi, along with pastry chef Mohammad Azam, conducted the workshop and taught participants how to make Chocolate Cookies, Chocolate Brownies, Cupcakes etc.

Social For Action, a Maharashtra-based not-for-profit initiative, conducts special fun-filled events, activities, and workshops to mobilise students and the young urban community through their social media platform to influence, inspire and make a difference in the world we inhabit. The Choco-Craft workshop proceeds will be donated to fight malnutrition and critical issue like anaemia across Maharashtra’s 35 districts.

The workshop had enthusiastic participants and the entire session was interactive. The session was so engaging that it extended beyond the stipulated two hours.

Giving some important baking tips, Kumar said, “When baking, measurement of every ingredient is important. To make the process easy, fast and to have the right texture while baking items, a pre-heated oven is also a prerequisite.”

The chefs also prepared some heavenly chocolate delights but Kumar said that health freaks should avoid white and milk chocolate and instead indulge in dark chocolate. “But avoid giving chocolates to your pet dogs,” he added.

One of the participants Madhuri Pachpande said, “Baking is amazing, and we had a great time at the workshop. Keep it up Choco-Craft.” Another participant Pooja Mewani said she enjoyed making the “delicious delicacies” and Neha Mewani said, “It was a crazy baking experience.”

The chefs too enjoyed the session. Kumar said, “When there are smiling faces around, your job is done. My biggest satisfaction is that I have contributed towards a social cause, the experience was amazing.”
Soumitra Kundu, F&B manager, The Orchid Hotel, Pune, Balewadi, said, “We, The Orchid Hotel Pune, as a socially responsible company, are committed to principles of accountability to the environment and to develop those communities who need help. We align our values and our business practices with a sense of giving back to the communities we live and work in. Apart from sponsoring and organising fundraising events, our various stakeholders are actively engaged through various CSR programmes covering both environment and community initiatives. It was an excellent initiative by Social For Action and we are honoured to be a part of the same.”
